چکیده

Three new and one already known species of Dactylogyrus Diesing, 1850 are described from five Labeo (Cyprinidae) sampled in the middle section Sanaga hydrosystem (Centre Region-Cameroon): sanagaensis sp. nov. Tshibwabwa, 1997, L. nunensis Pellegrin, 1929, camerunensis Trewavas, 1974 annectens Boulenger, 1903; nachtigalensis D. yassensis Musilová, Řehulková & Gelnar, 2009 batesii 1911; djimensis camerunensis. is close to longiphalloides, longiphallus, leonis, marocanus, dembae, however it can be easily distinguished these by size MCO. similar dembae but this mainly differentiated length penis. mostly omega penis diameter. collected Cameroon doesn’t significantly differ morphometrically original description, thus extends distribution basin. Monogenean spp. were classified into two morphological groups: ‘pseudanchoratus-like group’ ‘cyclocirrus-like newly defined herein. Phylogenetic relationships suggested among species.

Labeo rosae (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) in the Congo basin: a relict distribution or a historical introduction?

Labeo rosae, a species with a native range in Southern Africa, was discovered in the Congo basin by re-identification of two museum specimens previously identified as Labeo mesops. The occurrence of this species in the upper Congo implies a range extension of the species of more than 1000 km. Although the species' distribution is mirrored by that of some other Cypriniformes, its occurrence in t...

Gill ectoparasites of Barbus martorelli (Teleostean: Cyprinidae) from a tropical watercourse (Cameroon, Africa): conflict or coexistence?

The structure and stability of parasite communities have been mainly explained by high diversity and strong interactions among parasite species. During 16 months, 558 Barbus martorelli gill infracommunities were studied in a tropical zone to determine whether parasite infrapopulations interact. Three levels were retained: the infracommunity level, the gill filament level, and the filament fract...

Persistence of Dactylogyrus eucalius (Monogenea: Dactylogyridae) on the short-lived host Culaea inconstans (Pisces: Gasterosteiformes).

The monogene Dactylogyrus eucalius Mizelle and Regensberger, 1945 and its ability to maintain a population from year to year on the annual fish Culaea inconstans Kirkland was examined in a small lake in central Ontario. Fish were sampled toward the end of their annual breeding season, at a time when the host population consisted of 2 cohorts, i.e., young-of-the-year (0+) and mature adults (1+)....
